Intro

To start, I would love to state that I am not a expert in love nor am I claiming to know all about love.  To be honest I am not sure whether or not I have ever been in love myself.  However, I hope to shed some light and to discuss some of the reasons why we feel the necessity to find love and how society (especially the media) has framed and showed us what "love" is.

I have chosen to fixate on the media as a prime reason why we have put finding love in such high regard because we are constantly surrounded by all types of media in our daily lives.   Also, because outside of the examples that our parents have explained or showed us what love it we really do not have another blueprint of what we should be looking for when finding love.

Do not think that I am another person out there that is picking on the media and is blaming the media for another problem in our society.  Instead I am trying to understand what love is and the stories and images that the media has shown us are good examples.  Also, for the majority many of the ideas that the media portray to us can be seen as universal, while the experiences of our own family's idea of love changes from one to another.

But, through trying to understand I will talk about what we see on TV, through movies, what we read, and what some great people have said about love through the ages.  This will hopefully help me, if anyone, to understand and try to get a grasp of what love is, what love could be, and what love will be.
